Shows in London based on a best-selling book
This collection brings together West End shows that are based on a book – from classic literature such as Victor Hugo’s Les Miserables and Gaston Leroux’s The Phantom of the Opera, to family and children’s classic including Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical and Raymond Briggs’ The Snowman, which plays in the West End each Christmas.
Other shows based on a book include long-running thriller The Woman in Black by Susan Hill, and Agatha Christie’s Witness for the Prosecution.
Successful shows that have played in the West End in the past and continue to be revived include musicals such as Mary Poppins by P L Travers; and plays such as To Kill a Mockingbird.
