Created by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the man behind the critically acclaimed HAMILTON – soon to be making its West End debut – In The Heights is a thrilling evening of unforgettable songs and amazing choreography infused with the scorching rhythms and vibrant energy of a Manhattan heatwave.
In The Heights runs from 3 October 2015 until 8 January 2017 at the King’s Cross Theatre.
STORY
Welcome to Washington Heights, where life’s a struggle but the streets are jumping to the irresistible rhythms of love, passion, hopes and dreams. This smash-hit, Tony Award-winning musical is a joyously uplifting tale of young love in a community on the brink of change, set in one bustling neighbourhood where everyone knows everybody, and the breeze carries the sweet sounds of three generations of music.
With a gripping story and incredible Latin infused score, In The Heights is a ground breaking 21st century musical about what it takes to make a living, what it costs to have a dream, and what it means to be home.

It is directed by Luke Sheppard with choreography by Drew McOnie, musical supervision by Tom Deering, set design by Takis, costume design by Gabriella Slade, lighting design by Howard Hudson and sound design by Gareth Owen.

In The Heights opened at Broadway’s Richard Rodgers Theatre in 2008 where it was nominated for thirteen Tony Awards, winning four for Best Musical, Best Original Score, Best Choreography and Best Orchestrations. It also won the 2009 Grammy Award for its Original Broadway Cast Album and was nominated for the 2009 Pulitzer Prize in Drama.

In The Heights to close in January 2017
Lin-Manuel Miranda's award winning In the Heights has announced final dates at the King's Cross Theatre.
The final performance of the Hamilton creators musical will be 8 January 2017.
Casting changes have also been announced effective from 16 September 2016. Joining the cast are Arun Blair-Mangat (Kinky Boots) as Benny, Juliet Gough (Matilda) as Camilla and Stephanie Rojas (Wonder.land) as Carla.
Sarah Naudi, who has been with the show since it opened at the Southwark Playhouse in 2014, will play the role of Vanessa and Damian Buhagiar returns to the production as Sonny, having originated the role in 2014.
Continuing in the cast are Sam Mackay, Gabriela Garcia, David Bedella, Norma Attallah, Jonathan Bishop, Vas Constanti, Reiss Hinds, Chritopher Tendai, Michael Cortez, Shanice Burton, Raffaella Covino, Genesis Lynea, Alex Thomas and Tara Young.
The hit musical won three Olivier Awards at the 2016 ceremony in April - Outstanding Achievement in Music, Best Choreographer and Best Supporting Actor for David Bedella.

Tony and Olivier Award winning show In The Heights announces new cast members.
Christine Allado (From Here to Eternity, Here Lies Love) replaces Jade Ewen who leaves to become Princess Jasmine in Disney's Aladdin, Norma Atallah (The Sound of Music - Live) joins as Abuela and Jonathan Bishop (The Lion King) as Graffiti Pete.
Kimmy Edwards (Memphis) and Ryan Reid (Shrek The Musical) also join existing cast members David Bedella, Josie Benson, Vas Constanti, Lily Frazer, Sam Mackay, Sarah Naudi, Joe Aaron Reid, Cleve September and Philippa Stefani.
Completing the cast is Jocasta Almgill, Courtney-Mae Briggs, Michael Cortez, Gabriela Garcia, Reiss Hinds, Alexzandra Sarmiento and Spin.

Lin-Manuel Miranda's critically acclaimed musical In The Heights extends run for a third time at the King's Cross Theatre. Initially booking for a limited 4 weeks, the run-away success of the hip hop musical will take the booking period up to 30 October 2016.
The cast currently features David Bedella (The Rocky Horror Show) as Kevin, Josie Benson (Sweeney Todd) as Camila, Vas Constanti (Flashdance) as Piragua Guy, Jade Ewen (Sugababes) as Vanessa, Lily Frazer (Cats) as Nina, Philippa Stefani (Ghost the Musical) as Daniela, Sam Mackay (Wonder.land) as Usnavi, Antoine Murray-Straughan (Cats) as Graffiti Pete, Sarah Naudi as Carla, Eve Polycarpou (Mother Courage and Her Children) as Abuela, Joe Aaron Reid (Ghost, Broadway) as Benny and Cleve September (professional debut) as Sonny.

I’d never heard of this show, but my daughter was singing Breath for her Musical theatre Uni auditions, so took her to see it last October, I’ve now seen it twice, and she has been four times, and will be going again. Amazing music and dancing, hope this tours after the run at King Cross.
