Baz Luhrmann’s revolutionary film comes to life onstage, remixed in a new musical mash-up extravaganza. Directed by Tony Award® nominee Alex Timbers, Moulin Rouge! The Musical is a theatrical celebration of Truth, Beauty, Freedom and — above all — Love. With a book by Tony Award® winner John Logan; music supervision, orchestrations and arrangements by Justin Levine; and choreography by Emmy Award® nominee Sonya Tayeh.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical is booking until 7 January 2023 at London’s Piccadilly Theatre.

What is Moulin Rouge! The Musical about?

Set in Montmartre Quarter of Paris, France at the turn of the century, a world of indulgent beauty and unparalleled extravagance, of bohemians and aristocrats, of boulevardiers and mademoiselles.

Moulin Rouge! tells the fictional story of an ambitious, lovesick composer, Christian and a dazzling, entrancing chanteuse, Satine.

Their lives collide at the Moulin Rouge with its many characters including the host of the Moulin Rouge, Harold Zidler, the brilliant and starving artist Toulouse-Lautrec, the greatest tango dancer – and gigolo – in all of Paris, Santiago, the tempting Nini, and The Duke of Monroth, the wealthy and entitled patron of the club who thinks he can buy anything he wants, including love.

Who is in Moulin Rouge! The Musical cast?

Liisi LaFontaine (Good Trouble, Dreamgirls) and Jamie Bogyo star as Satine and Christian, alongside Clive Carter (Into the Woods, Come From Away) as Harold Zidler. Simon Bailey (HeathersJersey Boys) as The Duke, Jason Pennycooke (Hamilton, Memphis,La Cage Aux Folles) and Elia Lo Tauro (On Your FeetCarousel) as the Bohemians Toulouse-Lautrec and Santiago.

The club’s famed entertainers known as the ‘Lady Ms’ will be played by Sophie Carmen Jones (ChicagoJersey Boys) who will be Nini, Zoe Birkett (Priscilla Queen of the DesertHair) as Arabia, Jonathan Bishop (Hamilton, In the Heights) who will play Baby Doll and Timmika Ramsay (CinderellaMadagascar) as La Chocolat.

Directed by Tony® nominee Alex Timbers, with a book by Tony® winner John Logan, music supervision, orchestrations and arrangements by Justin Levine, choreography by Emmy® nominee Sonya Tayeh, set design by Derek McLane, costume design by Catherine Zuber and lighting design by Justin Townsend.
