Kate Fleetwood, Jamie Parker, Katie Brayben, Bella Brown, Chumisa Dornford-May, Jo Foster, Gracie Mcgonigal set to star
The Bridge Theatre in London has announced full casting for its major revival of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Into the Woods.
Into the Woods will take over the Bridge Theatre for a strictly limited 20-week run from 2 December 2025 to 18 April 2026.
The production is directed by Jordan Fein, following his Olivier Award-winning production of Fiddler on the Roof, which recently played at the Barbican Theatre and is now touring.

Into the Woods will star Olivier and Tony Award nominee Kate Fleetwood (My Master Builder, The Wheel of Time) as the Witch, Olivier Award winner Jamie Parker (The History Boys, Next to Normal, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) as the Baker, two-time Olivier Award winner Katie Brayben (Girl From the North Country, Tammy Faye) as the Baker’s Wife, Bella Brown (Evita, Hadestown) as Rapunzel, Chumisa Dornford-May (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, The Phantom of the Opera) as Cinderella, Jo Foster (Why Am I So Single?) as Jack, and Gracie Mcgonigal (The Little Big Things, Fangirls) as Little Red Ridinghood.
The cast will also feature Oliver Savile (Wicked) as Cinderella’s Prince/Wolf and Rhys Whitfield (The Devil Wears Prada) as Rapunzel’s Prince, Valda Aviks (The Addams Family Musical) as Grandmother/Giant, Geoffrey Aymer (The Wizard of Oz) as Cinderella’s Father, Michael Gould (Oedipus) as the Narrator/Mysterious Man, Jennifer Hepburn (Mamma Mia!) as Cinderella’s Stepmother, Hana Ichijo (The Baker’s Wife) as Lucinda, Julie Jupp (A Christmas Carol) as Jack’s Mother, Gabrielle Lewis-Dodson (42nd Street) as Florinda, and Hughie O’Donnell (King Lear) as the Steward.
Standbys are Taite-Elliot Drew (Cabaret), Jacob Fowler (Heathers), Sophie Linder-Lee (Wicked) and Chloe Saracco (Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812).

This production marks the first major London revival of the Sondheim classic in nearly a decade, and weaves together fairy-tale characters such as Cinderella, Jack, and Little Red Riding Hood as they navigate the consequences of their deepest wishes, all set against one of Sondheim’s most dazzling scores.

Bridge Theatre co-founder Nicholas Hytner has previously described Into the Woods as “one of the great achievements of the American stage”.

Already announced is Olivier and Tony Award-winning designer Tom Scutt (Cabaret, Fiddler on the Roof). He will be joined by: musical supervisor and musical director Mark Aspinall, sound designer Adam Fisher, lighting designer Aideen Malone, video designer Roland Horvath, movement director Jenny Ogilvie, wigs, hair & make-up designer Sam Cox, puppetry designers Cheryl ‘Chuck’ Brown, Max Humphries and Tom Scutt, production manager Chris Hay, associate director Georgia Green, scenic associate David Allen, associate musical director Alex Beetschen, associate sound designer Ollie Durrant, associate lighting designer Lucy Adams, associate costume designer Lucy Martin, wigs, hair & make-up supervisor Charlie Watson, props supervisors Jonathan Hall and Chris Marcus for Marcus Hall Props, orchestral management is by Andy Barnwell and Rich Weeden for BW Musicians and casting director is Stuart Burt CDG CSA.
Jordan Fein’s other credits include co-directing the Olivier Award-winning production of Oklahoma! in New York and London.
Other productions of Into the Woods
Into the Woods had its world premiere on Broadway in 1987 starring Bernadette Peters as the Witch, Chip Zien as the Baker, and Joanna Gleason as the Baker’s Wife. The show recently returned to Broadway in 2022 starring Patina Miller was the Witch, Brian d’Arcy James as the Baker, and Sara Bareilles as the Baker’s Wife.
Previous London productions of Into the Woods include the original West End production in 1990 at the Phoenix Theatre starring Julia McKenzie as the Witch, Ian Bartholomew as the Baker, and Imelda Staunton as the Baker’s Wife; and a 1998 revival at the Donmar Warehouse starring Clare Burt as the Witch, Nick Holder as the Baker, Sophie Thompson as the Baker’s Wife.
Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre also presented the show in 2010 starring Hannah Waddingham as the Witch, Mark Hadfield as the Baker, and Jenna Russell as the Baker’s Wife.
Terry Gilliam and Leah Hausman also directed a 2022 production at the Theatre Royal Bath, starring Nicola Hughes as the Witch, Rhashan Stone as the Baker, and Alex Young as the Baker’s Wife.
On film, Rob Marshall (Chicago) directed a 2014 movie of Into the Woods starring Meryl Streep as the Witch, James Corden as the Baker, and Emily Blunt as the Baker’s Wife. The movie is now playing on Disney+.
