Into the Woods in London
Following a sell-out run at the Bridge Theatre, the critically acclaimed Olivier Award-winning new production of Into the Woods transfers to the Noël Coward Theatre for a strictly limited run.
Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s collaboration – their second, after Sunday in the Park with George – brilliantly weaves together four Grimms’ fairy tales in a story of a baker and his wife on their quest to reverse a curse of childlessness cast upon them by the wicked witch.
Directed by Jordan Fein (Fiddler on the Roof, Regent’s Park) and designed by Tony Award-winner Tom Scutt (Cabaret, West End/Broadway), this reimagined staging brings new life to Sondheim’s spellbinding masterpiece.
Kate Fleetwood is set to reprise her role as The Witch, alongside Gracie McGonigal (Bridgerton, The Little Foxes) as Little Red Riding Hood.
What to expect
With a dazzling score, unforgettable storytelling, and a blend of humour, heart, and dark twists, Into the Woods is an enchanting and unpredictable musical where fairytales collide in unexpected ways. The musical explores the hidden complexities of human desire and turns the idea of ‘happily ever after’ on its head as familiar characters like Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (of Beanstalk fame) and Cinderella share their deepest desires.
A journey into the woods seems to put their wishes within reach but all is not as it seems.
