Further casting has been announced for a new production of Samuel Beckett’s macabre comedy Endgame at the Theatre Royal Bath.

Directed by Lindsay Posner, Endgame will run at the Ustinov Studio at Theatre Royal Bath from 4 September to 4 October 2025.

Already announced in the cast are Mathew Horne (Gavin & Stacey) as Clov, and Selina Cadell (Doc Martin) as Nell.

They will be joined by award-winning actor, director and writer Douglas Hodge (La Cage Aux Folles, The Great) as Hamm, and acclaimed film and television actor Clive Francis (I’m Sorry, Prime Minister) as Nagg.

Joining Lindsay Posner in the creative team is Set & Costume Designer Jon Bausor, with further creatives to be announced.

Lindsay Posner’s recent Ustinov Theatre production of A Deep Blue Sea starring Tamsin Greig and Selina Cadell is currently playing at the West End’s Theatre Royal Haymarket, until this Saturday, 21 June. His other recent Bath productions, all of which have transferred to London, include Noises Off, and A View From The Bridge.

Samuel Beckett is one of the most important writers of the 20th century. Waiting for Godot was recently revived at the Theatre Royal Haymarket starring Ben Whishaw and Lucian Msamati; and Krapp’s Last Tape recently played in London starring Stephen Rea, and in York starring Gary Oldman.

Other new Theatre Royal Bath shows include a season by Ralph Fiennes, which includes a world premiere by David Hare – Grace Pervades starring Fiennes and Miranda Raison; a new production of As You Like It starring Harriet Walter and Gloria Obianyo, directed by Fiennes; and Francesca Annis and Ralph Fiennes in the cast of new play Small Hotel by Rebecca Lenkiewicz.

Upcoming Theatre Royal Bath productions also include Lily Allen in Hedda, directed by Matthew Dunster; and a new stage adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma.

Clive Francis is set to star in new West End comedy I’m Sorry, Prime Minister as Sir Humphrey Appleby, with Griff Rhys Jones as Jim Hacker, at the Apollo Theatre in London from 30 January 2026.

A production of Douglas Hodges’ musical 101 Dalmatians is coming to the Eventim Apollo in London from 18 July 2025, starring Sydnie Christmas.

Endgame is playing at the Theatre Royal Bath’s Ustinov Studio from 4 September to 4 October 2025.
