A new production of Samuel Beckett’s macabre comedy Endgame is coming to Theatre Royal Bath, directed by Lindsay Posner.
Endgame will star Mathew Horne (Gavin & Stacey) and Selina Cadell (Doc Martin), in the Ustinov Studio at Theatre Royal Bath from 4 September to 4 October 2025.
Lindsay Posner’s recent Ustinov Theatre production of A Deep Blue Sea starring Tamsin Greig is currently playing at the West End’s Theatre Royal Haymarket. His other recent Bath productions, all of which have transferred to London, include Noises Off, and A View From The Bridge.
Matthew Horne (Death in Paradise, Bad Education) is star of BBC’s BAFTA-winning Gavin & Stacey. His many stage credits include The Homecoming, Rain Man, Charley’s Aunt, Noises Off and The Tempest.
Selina Cadell is currently starring in the West End transfer of The Deep Blue Sea, and her other recent stage credits include Jamie Lloyd’s production of The Tempest. Selina’s stellar screen career includes roles in much-loved drama Doc Martin and The Madness of King George.
Samuel Beckett is one of the most important writers of the 20th century. Waiting for Godot was recently revived at the Theatre Royal Haymarket starring Ben Whishaw and Lucian Msamati; and Krapp’s Last Tape recently played in London starring Stephen Rea, and in York starring Gary Oldman.
Endgame is playing at the Theatre Royal Bath’s Ustinov Studio from 4 September to 4 October 2025. There’s no current news about a West End transfer for Endgame.
Other new Theatre Royal Bath shows include a season by Ralph Fiennes, which includes a world premiere by David Hare – Grace Pervades starring Fiennes and Miranda Raison; a new production of As You Like It starring Harriet Walter and Gloria Obianyo, directed by Fiennes; and, as announced yesterday, Francesca Annis will join Ralph Fiennes in the cast of new play Small Hotel by Rebecca Lenkiewicz.
Upcoming Theatre Royal Bath productions also include Lily Allen in Hedda, directed by Matthew Dunster; and a new stage adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma.
