Operation Mincemeat in London
Operation Mincemeat is the hilarious comedy musical now playing at the West End’s Fortune Theatre in London.
Winner of the 2024 Olivier Award for Best New Musical, Operation Mincemeat is Singin’ in the Rain meets Strangers on a Train in this fast-paced, inventive, hilarious and unbelievable true story of the twisted secret mission that won us World War II. The Allied Forces are on the ropes, but luckily, they’ve got a trick up their sleeve. Well, not up their sleeve, per se, but rather inside the pocket of a stolen corpse.
Equal parts farce, thriller, and Ian Fleming-style spy caper (with an assist from Mr. Fleming himself), Operation Mincemeat is now in its third year in the West End, booking through 20 February 2027.
What to Expect
Described by critics as ‘joyous’ and ‘charming,’ Operation Mincemeat uses deliberate anachronisms, cheeky overacting and in-jokes to weave together an entertaining war story.

What is Operation Mincemeat about?
The year is 1943 and we’re losing the war. Luckily, we’re about to gamble all our futures on a stolen corpse!
Operation Mincemeat is the true story of a Second World War MI5 operation with a macabre twist. This is a tale that pits some forged papers and a strategically deployed corpse against the Nazis. To distract German attention from a planned Allied invasion of Sicily, the body of a tramp who had died from eating rat poison was dressed in a Royal Marines uniform, equipped with misleading ‘top secret’ documents, and set adrift off the Spanish coast as if he were the casualty of an air crash…. and it only gets more bonkers from there!
