Ben Daniels stars in Terence Rattigan’s gripping drama at the National Theatre’s Dorfman Theatre in 2026
Secure your tickets to Man and Boy at the National Theatre, London, and experience a powerful revival of one of Terence Rattigan’s most compelling dramas.
Starring acclaimed stage and screen actor Ben Daniels (Amazon’s Rings of Power, House of Cards) and rising star Laurie Kynaston (Long Day’s Journey into Night), Man and Boy is directed by Anthony Lau (The Crucible) in his National Theatre debut.
This powerful psychological thriller returns to the London stage with a sharp, contemporary edge.
What is Man and Boy about?
Set during the financial scandals of the 1930s, Man and Boy centres on Gregor Antonescu, a ruthless international financier whose business empire is on the verge of collapse. In a final act of desperation, he seeks refuge in the New York apartment of his estranged son, reigniting a toxic family dynamic built on manipulation and emotional betrayal.
Written in 1963 by Terence Rattigan, this dark, character-driven play explores themes of power, greed, morality, and the emotional cost of ambition. As Rattigan’s 50th anniversary approaches, this timely revival invites new audiences to rediscover one of his most provocative and lesser-known works.
