Hosts have been announced for the forthcoming European premiere of new musical I Am Harvey Milk, playing Cadogan Hall in London this month.

The concert version of the musical will feature West End star Joel Harper-Jackson (Standing at the Sky’s Edge, Kinky Boots) as Harvey Milk, and Broadway star Sierra Boggess (Love Never Dies, The Phantom of the Opera, The Little Mermaid) as Woman.

Also, Cian Eagle-Service (Britain’s Got Talent, Oliver!, Prince of Egypt) will play Young Harvey.

They will be joined by hosts Vanessa Williams (The Devil Wears Prada, Ugly Betty) and Alex Jennings (My Fair Lady, The Crown). The pair will share hosting duties, with Williams helming the 2.30pm performance and Jennings the 7.30pm show.

I Am Harvey Milk has music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa (Big Fish, The Addams Family) and weaves the story of Harvey Milk’s life – from boyhood, to his rise as the first openly gay man to hold public office in California, and finally to his assassination in San Francisco in 1978.

Part choral work, part theatre piece, I Am Harvey Milk promises to be an emotional celebration of an LGBTQ+ icon. All profits from the concerts will go to the charity Stonewall.

The concert is directed by Kirk Jackson (Song From Far Away, Buyer & Cellar), with musical direction by Jonathan Gill and movement by Khiley Williams.

Vanessa Williams is about to star as Miranda Priestly in big new movie-to-musical The Devil Wears Prada, opening at the Dominion Theatre in London this month.

I Am Harvey Milk in Concert takes place on Sunday 27 October 2024 at 2.30pm and 6.30pm.
