Get a taste of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new musical Cinderella, as the maestro and his leading lady Carrie Hope-Fletcher perform the song ‘Far Too Late’ on the bare stage of Her Majesty’s Theatre in the West End of London.
Lloyd Webber dedicated the performance to the UK government as a plea to help get theatre back on its feet.
Tipped as a modern reinvention of the classic fairytale, Cinderella will premiere at the newly refurbished Gillian Lynne Theatre in Spring 2021.
Casting for the show remains under wraps with only Hope-Fletcher and Victoria Hamilton-Barrit (A Chorus Line, Fame, Mamma Mia!) announced to play the title role and step-mother, respectively.
Carrie Hope-Fletcher’s recent theatre credits include Les Miserables, Heathers The Musical and The Addams Family.
The new musical is penned by Killing Eve scribe Emerald Fennell, with lyrics by David Zippel (City of Angels) and score by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Laurence Connor (Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, School of Rock) is set to direct with choreography by JoAnn M Hunter.
Full casting to be announced.
Cinderella is booking from 19 March 2021 until 24 October 2021 at the Gillian Lynne Theatre, London.
