My Best Friends Wedding The Musical comes to London starring Alexandra Burke.

Based on the much-loved film, My Best Friends Wedding is brought to life on stage in a new musical comedy starring Alexandra Burke (Sister Act, The Bodyguard) as fiery food critic Julianne Potter.

Brought to life by a powerhouse creative team, this romantic musical comedy has a book by Ronald Bass (My Best Friend’s Wedding, Rain Man, The Joy Luck Club) and Jonathan Harvey (Beautiful Thing, Gimme Gimme Gimme, Coronation Street) and features some of the most iconic pop anthems ever written by the legendary Burt Bacharach and Hal David including I’ll Never Fall in Love Again, I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself, Walk on By, I Say A Little Prayer and What’s New Pussycat.

My Best Friends Wedding The Musical is rumoured to open in London’s West End soon.

What’s the Story?

Fiery food critic Julianne Potter has always turned her nose up at romance. It’s the reason she broke up with her sweetheart Michael O’Neal. When she hears he’s about to be married, she vows to win him back for good, but with perfect Kimmy in the way, it’s not as easy as she first thought. Can she derail her best friend’s wedding in time and keep Michael all for herself?

Alexandra Burke (The Bodyguard, Chess, Chicago, Sister Act, X-Factor) will lead the cast as Julianne.

‘My Best Friends Wedding’ musical adaptation to premiere in UK
A new musical stage adaptation of the much-loved romantic comedy film My Best Friends Wedding is set to premiere in the UK in 2020. Starring Alexandra Burke (The Bodyguard, Chess, Chicago, Sister Act, X-Factor) in the role famously portrayed by Julia Roberts in the film, the new musical has a book by Jonathan Harvey (Beautiful Thing, Gimme Gimme Gimme) and the films original screenwriter Ronald Bass. My Best Friends Wedding The Musical follows fiery food critic Julianne Potter, as she vows to win back her soon to be wed ex-boyfriend Michael. With the perfect Kimmy standing her ground, can she derail her her best friend’s wedding in time and keep Michael all for herself? Directed by Rachel Kavanaugh, the show will feature a classic pop score with songs by Burt Bacharach and Hal David including I’ll Never Fall in Love Again, I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself, Walk on By, I Say A Little Prayer and What’s New Pussycat. The production will open on 19 September 2020 at the Theatre Royal Plymouth, playing until 26 September 2020, and will then tour to the Palace Theatre, Manchester (29 Sep-3 Oct), Bradford Alhambra (5-10 Oct), Curve Leicester (13-17 Oct), His Majesty’s Theatre, Aberdeen (19-24 Oct), Regent Theatre, Stoke-on-Trent (26-31 Oct), Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, Dublin (2-7 Nov), Wolverhampton Grand Theatre (10-14 Nov), Milton Keynes Theatre (16-21 Nov), Lyceum Theatre, Sheffield (23-28 Nov) and Congress Theatre, Eastbourne (1-12 Dec 2020).
