Producer David Pugh has announced the full cast of W. Somerset Maugham’s The Constant Wife, which is touring the UK in 2026 prior to the West End.
Originally produced by the RSC, and directed by the RSC’s Co-Artistic Director Tamara Harvey, The Constant Wife is adapted by Olivier Award winner Laura Wade (Home, I’m Darling; Posh).
Already announced is the production’s star, actor and Strictly Come Dancing winner Kara Tointon (Mr Selfridge, The Hunger Games) as Constance Middleton.
Kara Tointon will be joined by Gloria Onitiri (Hadestown) as Marie-Louise, Sara Crowe (Four Weddings & A Funeral) as Mrs Culver, Jules Brown (The Shawshank Redemption)Â as Mortimer, Tim Delap (Jane Eyre, National Theatre) as John, Alex Mugnaioni (The Taming of the Shrew, Globe Theatre) as Bernard, Philip Rham (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) as Bentley and Amy Vicary-Smith (The Duchess (of Malfi)) as Martha. The company is completed by Sam Flint, Jocasta King, and Jane Lambert.
The production was a big hit at the RSC, and boasts an original score by multi-award-winning jazz artist Jamie Cullum.

The creative team also includes Set and Co-costume Designer, Anna Fleischle; Co-costume Designer Cat Fuller; Lighting Designer, Ryan Day; Composer Jamie Cullum; Sound Designer, Claire Windsor; Movement and Intimacy Director Annie-Lunnette Deakin-Foster; and Casting Director, Charlotte Sutton CDG.
Produced by David Pugh (Shirley Valentine) and Cunard, the production is billed as “Prior to London’s West End” although there are no current details about London dates or venue.
Tour dates of The Constant Wife
The Constant Wife tour starts at The Grand Theatre in Blackpool on 16 January 2026, and then visits Chichester, York, Oxford, London Richmond, Brighton, Chelmsford, Liverpool, Salford, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Shrewsbury, Leeds, Cheltenham, Poole, Malvern and Bath, with further dates to be announced. The play will run at London’s Richmond Theatre from 9 to 14 February 2026.
Following the tour, the production will make its debut at sea on Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 Transatlantic Crossing.
