The RSC has announced further star casting for its forthcoming revival of Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard in Stratford-upon-Avon.
Hollywood star Bill Pullman (Spaceballs, Independence Day) will play Gaev in the production, alongside the already announced Oscar winners Helen Hunt and Kenneth Branagh.
Further casting is to be announced.
This new version of Chekhov’s final drama is adapted by Olivier Award-winning playwright Laura Wade (The Constant Wife, Posh, Rivals), and directed by RSC Co-Artistic Director Tamara Harvey.
The Cherry Orchard is playing at the Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon from 10 July to 29 August 2026.
Bill Pullman said in a statement that “thrilled is too inadequate – I’m thankful to be part of this company alongside Ken and Helen, and to be working with the talented Tamara Harvey and Laura Wade.”
