The Bush Theatre has revealed final creatives and casting for the return of multi award-winning play Red Pitch by Tyrell Williams.
The production will see the original cast members of Kedar Williams-Stirling (Sex Education), Emeka Sesay (The Power) and Francis Lovehall (A Thousand Blows) return to the play, about three football-obsessed teens.
Directed by Daniel Bailey, Red Pitch is playing at the Bush Theatre from 7 – 30 September 2023.
The creative team will also include Set and Costume Designer Amelia Jane Hankin, Lighting Designer Ali Hunter, Sound Designer Khalil Madovi, Movement Director Dickson Mbi, Associate Designer Georgia Wilmot, Associate Movement Director Ricardo Da Silva, Dramaturg Deirdre O’Halloran, Casting Director Heather Basten CDG, Voice Coach Gurkiran Kaur, Fight Director Kev McCurdy, and Football Consultant Aaron Samuel.
This fast-paced and sharp-edged play by Tyrell Williams tells a powerful story of gentrification versus regeneration and the impact of this relentless change on London’s communities.
The 2022 production of Red Pitch won the Off West End Award for Best New Play, and Tyrell won the Evening Standard Award for Most Promising Playwright, The Stage Debut Award for Best Writer, the Critics’ Circle Theatre Award for Most Promising Playwright and the George Devine Award. The production was nominated for a further seven Off West End Awards including Best Production, Best Performance Ensemble and Best Director.
Tyrell Williams is an award-winning writer and director for theatre, film, and television. Red Pitch is currently in development for a screen adaptation with Fudge Park. He has also written an episode of an upcoming Apple TV+ series.
Also now booking at the Bush Theatre is Anoushka Lucas in Elephant from 14 October to 4 November 2023; and Samuel Barnett in Feeling Afraid As If Something Terrible Is Going To Happen from 10 November to 23 December 2023.
