Directed by Robert Icke

Robert Icke returns to the West End following his triumphant, Olivier Award-winning production of Oedipus starring Mark Strong and Lesley Manville, which is now playing on Broadway.

In Icke’s production, a digital clock counts down the minutes in a story in which time and fate are heightened, and Sliding Doors moments suggest alternative scenarios for the star-crossed lovers.

Icke’s other recent work includes last year’s Manhunt at the Royal Court, Player Kings starring Ian McKellen, and Animal Farm which is touring in 2026.

The wider creative team joining Robert Icke for Romeo & Juliet includes set and costume design by Hildegard Bechtler, lighting design by Jon Clark, sound design by Tom Gibbons, video design by Ash J. Woodward, and casting by Julia Horan and Jim Carnahan.
