The ghost-with-the-most is packing up his pinstriped suit and heading for Singapore, as three‑time Tony Award nominee Andy Karl is set to lead the cast of Beetlejuice The Musical when it lands at the Esplanade Theatre from 15 January 2026.
Fresh from a celebrated Melbourne engagement, and hot on the heels of its return to Broadway, the eight‑time Tony‑nominated show is making Singapore the second stop on its international tour.
Drawing on Tim Burton’s beloved 1988 film, the musical follows gothic teen Lydia Deetz, a recently deceased couple, and a flamboyant demon who’s more than fond of black‑and‑white stripes.
Andy Karl is currently starring as the Duke in Broadway’s Moulin Rouge! and recently earned rave reviews Off‑Broadway in the cult musical Teeth.
His extensive Broadway credits include Rocky, Groundhog Day, Into the Woods, Pretty Woman, On the Twentieth Century, Legally Blonde, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, and Wicked. In London, he starred twice in Groundhog Day: The Musical at The Old Vic theatre.
Beetlejuice The Musical features music and lyrics by Eddie Perfect with a book by Scott Brown and Anthony King.
The show premiered in Washington, DC, in 2018 before opening at Broadway’s Winter Garden Theatre on 25 April 2019. After a pandemic‑forced closure in March 2020, it resurfaced at the Marquis Theatre in April 2022 and ran until 8 January 2023. The show is scheduled to haunt New York once more at the Palace Theatre for a limited engagement from 8 October 2025 to 3 January 2026, alongside a US national tour that began in December 2022 and concludes in September 2025.
There’s still no news about a possible London run of Beetlejuice The Musical.
Beetlejuice The Musical plays the Esplanade Theatre, Singapore, from 15 January 2026.
