Smash-hit West End musical Hadestown will see the original Broadway principals of the show reuniting for the London production this February and March.
For five weeks only, from 11 February to 9 March 2025, the original Broadway leads will star in the London production, which is now playing at the Lyric Theatre in London.
André de Shields as Hermes, Eva Noblezada as Eurydice, Reeve Carney as Orpheus, Amber Gray as Persephone and Patrick Page as Hades will all return to the production. All five appeared during show’s run at the National Theatre in London in 2018.
The show will also star Bella Brown, Madeline Charlemagne and Allie Daniel as the Fates; and Lauren Azania, Tiago Dhondt Bamberger, Waylon Jacobs and Christopher Short as the Workers.
The swings are Lucinda Buckley, Francessca Daniella-Baker, Winny Herbert, Ryesha Higgs and Miriam Nyarko.
The five weeks of performances sold out within days of going on sale at the Lyric Theatre in London.

The current London cast of the show features West End stars Rachel Tucker (Wicked, Sunset Boulevard) as Persephone, Trevor Dion Nicholas (Hamilton, Next to Normal) as Hades and Melanie La Barrie (& Juliet) as Hermes, alongside Dylan Wood (No Love Songs, Orphans) as Orpheus, and Madeline Charlemagne (The Secret Life of Bees, 42 Balloons) as Eurydice.
The cast also features Francessca Daniella-Baker, Allie Daniel and Bella Brown as the Three Fates; Lauren Azania, Tiago Dhondt Bamberger, Beth Hinton-Lever, Waylon Jacobs, and Christopher Short as The Workers; and Lucinda Buckley, Winny Herbert, Ryesha Higgs, Miriam Nyarko, and Simon Oskarsson as swings.
Melanie La Barrie confirmed back in November that she is leaving the show on 9 February 2025, and the other leads were also contracted to the 9th. Casting for performances following 9 March will be announced.
The musical intertwines two mythic love stories – that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone. Billed as a deeply resonant and defiantly hopeful theatrical experience, Hadestown blends modern American folk music with New Orleans-inspired jazz.
Hadestown first premiered at the National Theatre in 2018, and has gone on to enjoy a successful run on Broadway where it won 8 Tony Awards including Best Musical, and a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album.
The show enjoyed great reviews from the London theatre critics when it opened in February 2023.
Hadestown has music, lyrics and book by Grammy winning singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell, and is directed by Tony Award winner Rachel Chavkin (Mission Drift, Hadestown on Broadway).
The creative team also includes David Neumann (choreography), Rachel Hauck (scenic design), Michael Krass (costume design), Bradley King (lighting design), Nevin Steinberg and Jessica Paz (sound design), Liam Robinson (music supervision and vocal arrangements), Michael Chorney and Todd Sickafoose (arrangements and orchestrations), Ken Cerniglia (dramaturgy), Maria Crocker (UK Associate Director), Tarek Merchant (Musical Director), Jacob Sparrow (London casting).
Hadestown producer Mara Issacs said in a statement: “It is nothing short of divine magic to be able to welcome Reeve, Andre, Amber, Eva, and Patrick back to London. This transatlantic collaboration, which began with the National Theatre production in 2018, is baked into Hadestown’s DNA. We couldn’t be more thrilled to bring them ‘home’ as Hadestown continues its love affair with the West End.”
The London production has recently put out a London cast recording of Hadestown with Hadestown – Live From London now available to buy or stream.
Hadestown is booking at the Lyric Theatre to 28 September 2025.
Eva Noblezada is currently starring in major Broadway musical The Great Gatsby until 30 January 2025. The Great Gatsby is also transferring to London, playing the London Coliseum this summer from 11 April to 7 September 2025. Casting is to be announced.
Hadestown stars Eva Noblezada and Reeve Carney are making good use of their time in London: the pair will also star in a concert in London, with Eva Noblezada and Reeve Carney – Live in London playing the His Majesty’s Theatre on Sunday 9 February 2025.
