Smash-hit musical ANNIE comes to the Piccadilly Theatre.

Meera Syal takes control of the orphanage in Nikolai Foster’s bold new production of Annie.

With its Tony® award-winning book and score, this stunning new production includes the unforgettable songs ‘It’s the Hard Knock Life’, ‘Easy Street’, ‘I Don’t Need Anything But You’ and ‘Tomorrow’.

ANNIE – The Musical will run from 23 May 2017 until 18 February 2018 at the Piccadilly Theatre.

THE STORY

Set in 1930s New York during The Great Depression, brave young Annie is forced to live a life of misery and torment at Miss Hannigan’s orphanage.

Determined to find her real parents, her luck changes when she is chosen to spend Christmas at the residence of famous billionaire, Oliver Warbucks.

Spiteful Miss Hannigan has other ideas and hatches a plan to spoil Annie’s search…

THE CAST

The adult cast also features Meera Syal as Miss Hannigan, Alex Bourne as Daddy Warbucks, Holly Dale Spencer as Grace Farrell, Jonny Fines as Rooster and Djalenga Scott as Lily.

The title role of Annie will be shared by Madeleine Haynes, Lola Moxom and Ruby Stokes.

They will be joined by three teams of young performers who will play the girls in Miss Hannigan’s orphanage

CREATIVE TEAM

Directed by Nikolai Foster, set and costume design by Colin Richmond, choreography by Nick Winston, lighting by Ben Cracknell and sound design by Richard Brooker.

ANNIE has music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin and a book by Thomas Meehan.

Meera Syal to play Miss Hannigan in Annie
Comedian and actress Meera Syal will play Miss Hanigan in the West End production of Annie. Syal, who is probably best know for her work in BBC's comedy series The Kumars at No. 42 and Goodness Gracious Me, will join the production from 27 November 2017 and will play the role for the duration of the run. Meera Syal was last on stage earlier this year in a profoundly affectionate, passionate devotion to someone (-noun) at the Royal Court Theatre. Her numerous theatrical credits include Romeo & Juliet at the Garrick Theatre, Behind the Beautiful Forevers and Rafta Rafta for the National Theatre, Much Ado About Nothing for the Royal Shakespeare Company, The Killing of Sister George at the Arts Theatre and Shirley Valentine for the Menier Chocolate Factory. Her other tv credits include Midsomer Murders, Broadchurch, The Boy in the Dress, Silk, Bollywood Carmen, Doctor Who, The Amazing Mrs Pritchard and Life Isn’t All Ha Ha Hee Hee. Nikolai Foster’s production opened at the Piccadilly Theatre in May this year with Miranda Hart playing the tyrancial Miss Hannigan. BBC Stricly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood joined the Company last month to play the role from September until late November. Following its run atthe Piccadilly Theatre, the production will embark on a five week run at the Ed Mrivish Theatre in Toronto.
