The Donmar present Phyllida Lloyd’s all-female production of Henry IV with Harriet Walter.

This autumn Phyllida Lloyd completes her all-female Shakespeare Trilogy with a revival of her ground-breaking productions of Henry IV and Julius Caesar and a new staging of The Tempest.

Harriet Walter reprises her electrifying performance in the titular role of Henry IV.

Set within a women’s prison, Henry IV and Julius Caesar stunned stunned audiences on both sides of the Atlantic and challenged the idea of ‘who owns Shakespeare?

These productions have been one of the defining projects of the Donmar’s recent history. Their boldness of vision and invigorating energy has given audiences a new perspective on Shakespeare’s work and changed the landscape of theatre as we know it.

Shakespeare Trilogy will be staged over a 13 week repertory season in a purpose built 420 seat, in-the-round performance theatre in King’s Cross.

On special Donmar Shakespeare Trilogy days, all three plays will be performed back to back.

Henry IV runs from 17 November until 17 December at the King’s Cross Theatre.

The cast features Jade Anouka, Sheila Atim, Jackie Clune, Shiloh Coke, Karen Dunbar, Clare Dunne, Zainab Hasan, Jennifer Joseph, Martina Laird, Sophie Stanton, Sharon Rooney, Carolina Valdés and Harriet Walter.

Directed by Phyllida Lloyd with design by Chloe Lamford, theatre environment design by Bunny Christie, lighting by James Farncombe, sound by Peter Malkin and movement by Ann Yee.
