The Railway Children has announced it will close after 2 years at London’s King’s Cross Theatre, with a final performance on 8 January 2017.
It was also announced BAFTA award-winning presenter and actor Justin Fletcher, best known as children’s TV entertainer Mr Tumble, will join the cast as Mr Perks for two months from 31 August 2016 until 30 October 2016.
Directed by Damian Cruden, The Railway Children tells the story of three children whose lives change dramatically when their father disappears and they move from London to rural Yorkshire. They befriend the local railway porter, Perks, and embark on a magical journey.
Mike Kenny’s adaptation of The Railway Children was first produced at the National Railway Museum, York where it enjoyed two-sell-out season in 2008 and 2009. Prior to its King’s Cross transfer, the production played two seasons at the former Eurostar terminal in Waterloo Station and also in Toronto.
The Railway Children runs until 8 January 2017 at the King’s Cross Theatre.
