Conceived by Rent composer Jonathan Larson and written by the award-winning Julia Jordan with music and lyrics by singer-songwriter Juliana Nash, this is a boldly brilliant and explosive new musical that’s set to be London’s hottest new sensation.

Murder Ballad will run from 29 September 2016 until 3 December 2016 at the Arts Theatre.

STORY

Set to pop-rock tunes, Murder Ballad follows Sara (Ellis), a New Yorker who is torn between her dangerous ex-boyfriend and her reliable husband – a treacherous love triangle with the inevitable tragic ending.

CAST

Starring Kerry Ellis (Wicked), Ramin Karimloo (Phantom of the Opera), Victoria Hamilton–Barritt (In the Heights) and Norman Bowman (Guys and Dolls).

Completing the cast are Natalie McQueen (alternate Sara/cover Narrator), and Matthew Harvey (cover Michael and Tom).

Murder Ballad extends West End run

Producers have announced an extension to the booking period for the UK premiere of Murder Ballad. A razor-sharp tale of modern relationships, abandoned dreams and treachery in the big city, Murder Ballad stars Kerry Ellis (Wicked), Ramin Karimloo (The Phantom of the Opera) and Victoria Hamilton–Barritt (In the Heights) as three New Yorkers caught in a love triangle.  The cast also features Norman Bowman, Natalie McQueen and Matthew Harvey. Julia Jordan and Juliana Nash's musical premiered to critical acclaim at the Manhattan Theatre Club in 2012 before transferring to the Union Square Theatre. Casting announced for Murder Ballad

Casting has been announced for the West End premier of Murder Ballad Victoria Hamilton-Barritt joins Kerry Ellis in the musical; a fatal attraction love triangle which plays at the Arts Theatre later this year. Ellis is best known for starring in Wicked with Hamilton-Barritt most recently in the hit new show In The Heights at the King’s Cross Theatre. Set to pop-rock tunes, the show by Julia Jordan and Juliana Nash, was highly praised when it ran in New York four years ago. Casting for the male lead is still to be announced. UK premiere of Murder Ballad to star Kerry Ellis

Kerry Ellis is to star in the UK premiere of rock musical Murder Ballad at the Arts Theatre. Set to pop-rock tunes, Murder Ballad follows Sara (Ellis), a New Yorker who is torn between her dangerous ex-boyfriend and her reliable husband – a treacherous love triangle with the inevitable tragic ending. Conceived by Rent composer Jonathan Larson and two-time Susan Smith Blackburn Prize finalist Julia Jordan, Murder Ballad has book and lyrics by Jordan and music and lyrics by Juliana Nash. The show is produced in the UK by Soundcheck Productions which is part of Soundcheck Group. Managing director of Soundcheck Group, Daniel Hinchliffe, said that the production arm had initially been founded to find roles for Ellis, who he manages.
