Fun Home, London

Five Broadway shows we hope transfer to London in 2016

One of the most ground-breaking productions ever to hit Broadway, Fun Home is the winner of five 2015 Tony Awards including Best Musical.

Based on Alison Bechdel’s best-selling graphic memoir, Fun Home is a refreshingly honest musical about seeing your parents through grown-up eyes, a blazingly original heartbreaker and a nonstop treasure of invention.

Finding Neverland is the new Broadway musical that tells the fascinating story of how Peter became Pan.  Originally staged at Curve Leicester, following so-so reviews it was extensively re-written and given the Gary Barlow treatment.  Based on the Academy Award®-winning film of the same name, it has been brought to extraordinary life by Gary Barlow and the team behind Shakespeare in Love, Chicago and Pippin.

Bartlett Sher’s Broadway revival of the classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical The King and I has captivated audiences and critics alike, winning four 2015 Tony Awards including Best Revival of a Musical, Best Actress in a Musical and Best Costume Design of a Musical.

Based on Margaret Landon’s 1944 novel “Anna and the King of Siam,”  The King and I  is a dramatic, richly textured and ultimately uplifting tale of East versus West. One of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s finest works, it boasts a score which features such beloved classics as Getting To Know You, Hello Young Lovers, Shall We Dance, I Have Dreamed and Something Wonderful”.

David Bowie and Tony Award-winning playwright Enda Walsh’s off-Broadway production of Lazarus sold-out its limited New York run.  With Bowie passing away shortly after it opened, producers have all but confirmed it will transfer to London.  Inspired by Walter Tevis’ best-selling 1963 novel The Man Who Fell to Earth, which was made into a film starring Bowie, Lazarus features new songs specially composed by Bowie as well as new arrangements of previously recorded songs.
