Bartlett Sher’s Tony Award winning Lincoln Center Theater revival of The King and I is embarking on a tour of the UK in 2023.

This gloriously lavish production is brought to the stage by an internationally renowned creative team under Tony Award-winning director Bartlett Sher (South Pacific, My Fair Lady, To Kill a Mockingbird) and features a world-class company of over 50 West End and Broadway performers and a full-scale orchestra.

The King and I stars Call The Midwife’s Helen George as Anna, with Broadway star Darren Lee (Chicago, Guys and Dolls) as the King of Siam, Dean John-Wilson (The King and I) as Lun Tha, Marienella Phillips (Henry V) as Tuptim, and Cezarah Bonner as Lady Thiang.

Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Tony-award winning musical is a dramatic, richly textured and ultimately uplifting tale of East versus West, and boasts a score featuring beloved classics “Getting To Know You,” “Hello Young Lovers,” “Shall We Dance,” “I Have Dreamed” and “Something Wonderful”.

The Broadway production of The King and I won four 2015 Tony Awards including Best Revival of a Musical, Best Actress in a Musical and Best Costume Design of a Musical.

What's the story of The King and I - UK & Ireland Tour?

The year is 1862, and British schoolteacher Anna Leonowens has arrived in Siam to instruct the royal children.

But despite her sharp wit and strong will, nothing has prepared Anna for the lessons this rich and complicated new land has to teach her — or for the powerful connection she will forge with its imperious King.

The West End production of The King and I will be broadcast to cinema's later this year. Bartlett Sher's award-winning Lincoln Center production stars Broadway actress Kelli O'Hara & Japanse film star Ken Watanabe - the five star landmark production has been described as "Breathtaking. The acclaimed musical transferred from the US for a limited West End engagement, playing from 21 June 2018 until 29 September 2018 at the London Palladium.
