Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Broadway hit musical The King and I comes to London’s West End.

I doubt I’ll see a better production in my lifetime  Wall Street Journal

Bartlett Sher’s Tony Award winning Lincoln Center Theater revival of The King and I opens at the London Palladium in Spring 2018.

Starring the original Broadway stars; reprising her Tony Award-winning performance, Kelli O’Hara and Tony and Oscar nominee Ken Watanabe.

Based on Margaret Landon’s 1944 novel, Rodgers and Hammerstein Tony-award winning musical is a dramatic, richly textured and ultimately uplifting tale of East versus West.

One of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s finest works, The King and I boasts a score featuring beloved classics “Getting To Know You,” “Hello Young Lovers,” “Shall We Dance,” “I Have Dreamed” and “Something Wonderful”.

The Broadway production of The King and I won four 2015 Tony Awards including Best Revival of a Musical, Best Actress in a Musical and Best Costume Design of a Musical.

A once in a life time opportunity – limited engagement booking from 21 June 2018 until 29 September 2018 at the London Palladium.

Two worlds collide in this classic musical directed by Bartlett Sher (Oslo, South Pacific).

The year is 1862, and British schoolteacher Anna Leonowens has arrived in Siam to instruct the royal children.

But despite her sharp wit and strong will, nothing has prepared Anna for the lessons this rich and complicated new land has to teach her — or for the powerful connection she will forge with its imperious King.

The cast is led by Kelli O’Hara (Anna), Ken Watanabe (The King), Ruthie Ann Miles (Lady Thiang), Dean John-Wilson (Lun Tha) and Na-Young Jeon (Tuptim).

The King and I is based on Margaret Landon’s novel, Anna and the King of Siam with music by Richard Rodgers, book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II and original choreography by Jerome Robbins.

Bartlett Sher reunites the original creative team of Catherine Zuber (Tony Award winner for Best Costume), set designer Michael Yeargan, lighting designer Donald Holder, sound designer Scott Lehrer and choreography by Christopher Gattelli based on the original choreography by Jerome Robbins.
