Immersive experience company Secret Cinema is set to bring Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean to life in London next year in a new immersive adventure.
Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: The Immersive Adventure will premiere at Secret Cinema’s new London venue at Greenwich Peninsula from February 2027 for a limited 10-week season.
The show marks the first time that the franchise has been adapted into a fully immersive theatrical experience, and will invite audiences to step inside a swashbuckling adventure featuring cinematic-scale immersive sets, live theatre performances, dazzling stunts and a live band.
Audiences will be able to roam around a number of detailed environments in the vast, two-building venue being built on Greenwich Peninsula, meeting characters from the film, and becoming part of the story themselves.
Disney’s blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise starred Johnny Depp and Keira Knightley. Keira is set to return to the West End later this year, in a new stage adaptation of Oscar-winning German film The Lives of Others, at the Adelphi Theatre.
Secret Cinema Artistic Director Merritt Baer said in a statement that the experience will feature “epic aerial stunts, fearless swordfights and a cast of your favourite swashbuckling pirates”. Baer went on to say that, “we can’t wait to open our new flagship venue at Greenwich Peninsula, minutes from The O2, with the world premiere of Secret Cinema presents Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: The Immersive Adventure.”
Secret Cinema has licensed the new experience from Disney Theatrical Group, producers of hit West End musicals including The Lion King and Hercules.
Secret Cinema recently announced its new, long-term flagship venue at Greenwich Peninsula, with Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: The Immersive Adventure set to be the first production staged there.
The new Greenwich venue is not to be confused with a new theatre complex coming to Greenwich Peninsula built by Troubadour Theatres.
