East Germany, 1984.
Gerd Wiesler is a Stasi officer, tasked with observing playwright Georg Dreyman and actress Christa-Maria Sieland. From a hidden attic, he records their lives — methodically, without question.
At first, it is routine. Then something shifts. Music. Conversation. Intimacy.
What begins as surveillance becomes something more unsettling: attention, then empathy, then risk.
