The Young Vic’s sold-out production of The Scottsboro Boys hits the West End’s Garrick Theatre starring Brandon Victor Dixon.

Following a wildly successful, sold out run at the Young Vic, Kander and Ebb’s exhilarating, dazzling and provocative musical The Scottsboro Boys is transferring to the West End this Autumn.

This critically acclaimed production was nominated for 6 Olivier Awards including Best New Musical and won the Critics’ Circle Best Musical Award 2013. It was nominated for an extraordinary 12 Tony Awards on Broadway.

The Socttsboro Boys brings to life the extraordinary true story of nine young men in a case that changed history forever.

The cast includes Broadway star Brandon Victor Dixon – the original Haywood Patterson in the US cast of the show, and Young Vic cast members Colman Domingo, Forrest McClendon, James T Lane and Julian Glover.

Directed by 5-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman, this sensational musical is written by legendary composing duo Kander and Ebb (Chicago, Cabaret).

THE STORY

1931. Nine black teenagers board a train in Scottsboro, Alabama, in search of a new life. By the end of their journey, their lives – and those of every American – would be changed forever.
Accused of an unspeakable crime, their trial would divide a nation. But behind the screaming headlines was the devastating story of nine young men, desperate to prove to the world that they mattered.

CAST

Broadway star Brandon Victor Dixon returns to the role of Haywood Patterson following a triumphant Broadway run. He is joined by Colman Domingo as Mr Bones, Forrest McClendon as Mr Tambo, James T Lane as Ozie Powell, and Julian Glover as The Interlocutor, plus Dawn Hope, Dex Lee, Rohan Pinnock-Hamilton, Richard Pitt, Emile Ruddock and Carl Spencer.

Casting has been announced for the West End transfer of The Scottsboro Boys. The original lead of the US show, Brandon Victor Dixon, has been announced as Haywood Patterson, making his West End debut. Brandon is currently starring as Berry Gordy in Motown The Musical on Broadway. Also joining the cast of The Scottsboro Boys are the American performers from the Young Vic production - Olivier Award nominated Colman Domingo as Mr Bones, Forrest McClendon as Mr Tambo and James T Lane as Ozie Powell.
