A round-up of reviews of Urinetown at the St James Theatre

The reviews are in for Jamie Lloyd’s new musical Urinetown at the St James Theatre. A cult off-Broadway hit, the show stars Richard Fleeshman (Ghost The Musical) as municipal toilet clerk Bobby Strong in the musical about love and small-town corruption. Other stars include Olivier Award-winning actress Jenna Russell (Merrily We Roll Along), Marc Elliot (EastEnders) as Mr. McQueen, Broadway actor Cory English (Young Frankenstein), RSC actor Jonathan Slinger (Hamlet) as Officer Lockstock and newcomer Rosanna Hyland as Hope Cladwell.
★★★★ “By turns grim and glittering, the show remains a dark, stark delight, and so does the company, magnificently led by Jenna Russell and Jonathan Slinger as before, but newly joined by the buff, handsome Matthew Seadon-Young as Bobby Strong, who leads the revolution against the corporate monster.” The Stage
★★★★★ “Had me laughing like a drain” Sunday Telegraph
★★★★ “Hugely entertaining” WestEndTheatre.com
★★★★ “Daring and original show” Telegraph
★★★★ “Urinetown boasts a truly gleeful inventiveness” Evening Standard
