The Theatre Royal Bath have revealed further casting for their forthcoming revival of Terence Rattigan’s The Deep Blue Sea starring Tamsin Greig.
Directed by Lindsay Posner, The Deep Blue Sea will also star Oliver Chris as Freddy.
Olivier Award winner Tamsin Greig was announced for the show back in May 2023, and plays Hester Collyer in Rattigan’s 1950’s study of obsession and the destructive power of love.
The production also stars Tony Award nominee Finbar Lynch (Not About Nightingales at the National Theatre, Girl from The North Country in the West End) as Miller, Nicholas Farrell (Chariots of Fire, Hamlet, Othello, In the Bleak MidWinter, House of Cards) as Sir William Collyer, Felicity Montagu (Bridget Jones’s Diary, I’m Alan Partridge) as Mrs Elton, Preston Nyman as Philip Welch, Lisa Ambalavanar as Ann Welch and Marc Elliott (The Father and the Assassin at the National Theatre, Macbeth for the RSC) as Jackie Jackson.
Oliver Chris is an actor and writer. His theatre credits include King Charles III (Almeida Theatre, West End, Broadway), One Man, Two Guvnors (National Theatre, West End, Broadway) for which he was nominated for an Olivier Award, and Nicholas Hytner’s adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream (The Bridge Theatre). As a writer his work includes Jack Absolute Flies Again, co-written with Richard Bean, at the National Theatre. His TV credits include Motherland, Trying, Foundation, The Crown, Maternal, and fortcoming shows My Lady Jane for Amazon and Jilly Cooper’s Rivals on Disney+.
Tamsin Greig won the Olivier Award for Best Actress in 2007 for Much Ado About Nothing, and has been nominated for The Little Dog Laughed and Women on the Verge of a Breakdown in the West End. She most recently starred in Pegg For You at Hampstead Theatre. Tamsin’s extensive screen credits include Green Wing, Black Books, Episodes, Love Soup and Friday Night Dinner.
Joining Lindsay Posner in the creative team are Peter McKintosh (Set & Costume Designer), Paul Pyant (Lighting Designer), Gregory Clarke (Sound Designer), Will Stuart (Composer), Carole Hancock (Hair, Wigs & Make-up Designer), Ginny Schiller (Casting Director) and George Jibson (Associate Director).
Lindsay Posner is currently directing David Morrissey in a new production of Harold Pinter double bill The Lover / The Collection, which is now playing at the Theatre Royal Bath to 20 April 2024. Posner recently directed Dominic West in A View From The Bridge, which is playing at the West End’s Theatre Royal Haymarket from 23 May 2024.
The Deep Blue Sea will play the Ustinov Studio at the Theatre Royal Bath from 2 May to 1 June 2024.
