Rachel Tucker to guest star in Sunset Boulevard at the Savoy Theatre

The Jamie Lloyd Company has announced that acclaimed West End star Rachel Tucker is to guest star in Sunset Boulevard at the Savoy Theatre in London.

Tucker will cover for Nicole Scherzinger, who is starring in the show as Norma Desmond, and will perform as Norma on 12 October 2023 matinee, and all Monday evening performances from 16 October 2023 to 6 January 2024.

This new revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Sunset Boulevard, with a book and lyrics by Don Black and Christopher Hampton, based on the Billy Wilder film, will be directed by Jamie Lloyd.

Further cast and creatives for the production are to be announced.

Rachel Tucker said in a statement: “I’ve wanted to work with Jamie for a long time and to collaborate with him on a brand new version of one of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s best scores, whilst getting to play such an iconic role, is a career high for me.”

Rachel Tucker’s theatre credits include Come From Away, Songs For a New World, Wicked, The Last Ship and We Will Rock You.

This new production of Sunset Boulevard is opening 30 years after the original production, and runs for a strictly limited 16 weeks at the Savoy Theatre from 21 September 2023 to 6 January 2024.

The show is produced by The Jamie Lloyd Company, the partnership between Ambassador Theatre Group and Artistic Director Jamie Lloyd, and Michael Harrison for Lloyd Webber Harrison Musicals.

In other Rachel Tucker news, she will be performing her own one-woman show – Rachel Tucker in Concert – at Cadogan Hall on 5 November 2023.

Jamie Lloyd’s new revival of Lucy Prebble’s The Effect opened this week at the National Theatre starring Paapa Essiedu and Taylor Russell.
