The Turbine Theatre in London has announced that it is presenting a reworked version of cult musical Eugenius!
The high-energy, 80s-inspired British musical is written by Ben Adams and Chris Wilkins.
The musical was going to get a West End transfer in 2018 from The Other Palace to the Ambassadors Theatre, but producers couldn’t get full investment for the production and so it was cancelled. In 2020, producers streamed archive footage of the show during the Covid pandemic to raise money for the Acting for Others charity.
The musical comedy is about a geeky schoolboy called Eugene who dreams of getting his fictional superhero made into a Hollywood film and of finding true love. The show has a pulsating soundtrack, and is an hilarious love letter to the iconic movies, comic books and nostalgia of the 1980’s.
This new production is directed by Hannah Chissick, and plays at the Turbine Theatre from 17 March to 28 May 2023.
Casting and creative team to be announced.
