Musicals for 2023 include Broadway transfer Ain’t Too Proud – The Life and Times of the Temptations at the Prince Edward Theatre; huge Broadway hit Mrs Doubtfire The Musical at the Shaftesbury Theatre; the blockbuster new production of Crazy For You at the Gillian Lynne Theatre, coming from a five-star run at Chichester Festival Theatre, directed by Broadway legend Susan Stroman and starring Charlie Stemp; Nick Hytner’s new immersive production of Broadway classic Guys & Dolls at the Bridge Theatre; Michael Ball in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Aspects of Love at the Lyric Theatre; Daniel Fish’s acclaimed Young Vic production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma! coming to the Wyndham’s Theatre; Beverley Knight in Sylvia at the Old Vic; The Great British Bake Off The Musical at the Noel Coward Theatre starring John Owen-Jones and Haydn Gwynne; and Groundhog Day The Musical at The Old Vic by Matilda composer Tim Minchin.

Plays to see in 2023 include Michael Frayn’s hilarious farce Noises Off at the Phoenix Theatre starring Felicity Kendal, Matthew Kelly and Tracy-Ann Oberman; new comedy The Unfriend at the Criterion Theatre directed by Mark Gatiss and starring Reece Shearsmith; Sam Steiner’s comedy Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons, directed by Josie Rourke starring Jenna Coleman and Aidan Turner; Sheridan Smith in Willy Russell’s comedy Shirley Valentine, in a revival at the Duke of York’s Theatre; the return of Sam Mendes’ production of The Lehman Trilogy, to the Gillian Lynne Theatre, and Mendes directing Jack Thorne’s new drama The Motive and the Cue at the National Theatre; Sophie Okonedo and Ben Daniels in Medea at the @sohoplace theatre, directed by Dominic Cooke; Ivo van Hove’s production of A Little Life at the Harold Pinter Theatre starring James Norton; Lily Allen and Steve Pemberton in Martin McDonagh’s The Pillowman at the Duke of York’s Theatre; and Janet McTeer in Phaedra at the National.
