The Old Vic has released a first-look photo of Beverley Knight and Sharon Rose in new musical Sylvia.
Sylvia will play at the Old Vic from 27 January to 1 April 2023.
Beverley Knight (The Drifters Girl, Sister Act) plays Emmeline Pankhurst in the show, with Sharon Rose (Hamilton, Motown the Musical) as her daughter Sylvia, the lesser-known Pankhurst at the heart of the Suffragette movement.
This revolutionary story celebrates the life of Sylvia Pankhurst – feminist, activist, pacifist, socialist, rebel – who changed the lives of working women and men across the world.
Directed and choreographed by Kate Prince, the show unites dance, hip hop, funk and soul to shine a light on a remarkable moment in history, with original music by Josh Cohen and DJ Walde. The show’s book is by Kate Prince with Priya Parmar and lyrics are by Kate Prince.
