Hit musical Sylvia starring 2023 Olivier Award winner Beverley Knight
Over 100 years after the first women in Britain were granted the vote, Zoonation’s Kate Prince combines dance, hip hop, soul and funk to shed new light on a remarkable story at the heart of the Suffragette movement.
Beverley Knight (The Drifters Girl, Sister Act), who won a 2023 Olivier Award for her role in Sylvia, stars as Emmeline Pankhurst in the show, with Sharon Rose (Hamilton, Motown the Musical) as her daughter Sylvia, the lesser-known Pankhurst at the heart of the Suffragette movement.
Co-written by Kate Prince and Priya Parmar, with original music by Josh Cohen and DJ Walde, Sylvia is a thrilling new musical celebrating the life of Sylvia Pankhurst, her pivotal role in the campaign for women’s rights and the price of the passion and politics that tore her family apart.
Sylvia runs at the Old Vic Theatre in London until 8 April 2023.
