The brand new touring production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat has announced casting details.
Produced by Michael Harrison Productions and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Really Useful Group, the UK & Ireland tour kicks off at the Manchester Opera House on 23 March 2022.
Alexandra Burke and Linzi Hateley will share The Narrator duties across the tour. X Factor winner Alexandra’s West End credits include leads in The Bodyguard, Sister Act, Chess and Chicago. Linzi Hateley is an Olivier Award nomineed West End and Broadway actress with credits including the RSC and the National Theatre.
Jason Donovan is tipped to reprise his role as Pharaoh, after his star turn in the part at the London Palladium in 2019 and 2021; and Bobby Windebank will play the role at some venues across the tour
Finally, Jac Yarrow will wear the famous coloured coat again after he became a stage sensation in the role after his West End debut as Joseph in 2019.
Producer Michael Harrison told the press that: “After two sensational runs at The London Palladium, I am delighted that this joyous show is now set to unite audiences and spread happiness across the UK & Ireland on tour. Our ‘dream team’ casting will enchant newcomers and longstanding fans alike – GO! GO! GO! JOSEPH!”
The show is directed by Laurence Connor (Les Miserables, Cinderella) and choreographed by JoAnn M Hunter (School of Rock), with set and costume design are Morgan Large, lighting by Ben Cracknell and sound design by Gareth Owen.
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is one of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s most famous and produced musical, with productions in over 80 countries , and songs including Any Dream Will Do, Close Every Door To Me, Jacob and Sons, There’s One More Angel In Heaven and Go Go Go Joseph.
