The summer takes off with hot new shows coming to the West End this June. From a new musical about the 1984 miners’ strike to critically acclaimed plays by Tom Stoppard and Florian Zeller, these are the shows you’ll want to catch.
The new shows arriving in June offer a wealth of rich performances. From the highly anticipated all-female production of David Mamet’s explosive classic Glengarry Glen Ross to the premiere of Sinatra the Musical, bringing the life and songs of Old Blue Eyes to the stage, there will be something for everyone this summer.
The warmer months also mean outdoor theatre is back on the menu, and Shakespeare’s Globe and Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre are in for the running with productions of classics A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Much Ado About Nothing. Sinatra the Musical

Sinatra the Musical brings Frank Sinatra’s iconic story to the West End this June, featuring more than 20 of Sinatra’s greatest hits, like ‘Come Fly with Me,’ ‘New York New York,’ and ‘The Best is Yet to Come.’ This new musical charts the extraordinary rise and scandalous fall of the star, before he stages one of the greatest comebacks in showbusiness history.
As Phoebe Panaretos, who plays Nancy Sinatra, puts it, Sinatra’s music is the star of the show, taking audiences on a journey into the story of a man caught between two versions of himself: one who aspires to be the classic family man and one tempted by the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. Frank and Nancy’s daughter Tina Sinatra has been involved in the production, ensuring a truthful representation of the man behind the myth.

To Kill a Mockingbird

This landmark production of To Kill a Mockingbird returns to the West End in June with Richard Coyle (Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore) starring as Atticus Finch. Coyle took over the role from Rafe Spall in the original critically acclaimed West End run and returned to the role for the UK tour in 2025.
To Kill a Mockingbird was adapted from Harper Lee’s 1960 novel, following Scout Finch and her lawyer father, Atticus, in 1930s Alabama as a new case threatens to boil over and expose the deep-seated prejudices of their town. Directed by Tony Award-winner Bartlett Sher and adapted by Aaron Sorkin, this landmark production combines gripping drama with emotional depth, making it one to catch this summer.

Jesus Christ Superstar

Eurovision star Sam Ryder makes his West End debut as the titular Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar at the London Palladium this summer. This award-winning production has also cast an all-star lineup of guests to share the role of King Herod across the run including Richard Armitage (The Hobbit trilogy), pop icon Boy George (Moulin Rouge!) and Layton Williams (Titanique).
The iconic rock musical from Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice reimagines the last days of Jesus Christ through the eyes of Judas, offering a strikingly human perspective on events that changed the course of history. Directed by Tim Sheader (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) and choreographed by Drew McOnie (In the Heights, Carousel), Jesus Christ Superstar will be a hot ticket this summer.

Much Ado About Nothing
Gracing the stage at Shakespeare’s Globe this summer is Much Ado About Nothing, Shakespeare’s classic enemies-to-lovers comedy. Following Beatrice and Benedick as they exchange witty barbs while their friends plot to get them to fall in love, Much Ado About Nothing is a vibrantly funny and entertaining play, even for those new to the work of the Bard.
Seeing a show at Shakespeare’s Globe is a classic part of experiencing summer in London, and this production is sure to be an entertaining night at the theatre. While Much Ado About Nothing is a regular show in the Globe’s rotation, every production offers a unique interpretation on the work.
Directed by Chelsea Walker (All’s Well That Ends Well) and starring Pippa Nixon (The Ocean at the End of the Lane, The Importance of Being Earnest) and Ken Nwosu (An Octoroon, Three Sisters) as Beatrice and Benedict respectively, we’re excited to see what this new version has to offer.

Following a sell-out run at The Old Vic, Arcadia transfers to the Duke of York’s in the West End this June. Directed by Carrie Cracknell, the critically acclaimed production brings Tom Stoppard’s electric script – widely regarded as one of the greatest modern plays – to life with dazzling effort.
Straddling two timelines, Arcadia follows a teenage math prodigy in 1809 seeking to understand the world, and the present-day scholars seeking to understand her. Isis Hainsworth (Red Rose, Metal Lords) was nominated for an Olivier Award for her performance as Thomasina Coverly, the role for which she subsequently won a 2026 Ian Charleson Award.

New musical Pride premieres at the National Theatre this June, based on the award-winning 2014 film of the same name, in turn inspired by true events. This heart-warming new musical brings the story of a group of lesbian and gay activists as they join the miners’ strike campaign of 1984, allowing two oppressed communities to find common ground in a time of upheaval.
Reuniting director Matthew Warchus (Matilda the Musical, A Christmas Carol) and writer Stephen Beresford (The Southbury Child) – the creative team behind the film – Pride will feature new original music inspired by protest anthems, pop, rock and disco by Christopher Nightingale (A Christmas Carol), Josh Cohen (Sylvia) and DJ Walde (Sylvia). Anticipation is high for the London premiere of this new musical.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre brings A Midsummer Night’s Dream to London from 20 June. Particularly well suited to the open-air theatre’s atmosphere amongst the trees and under the stars, this new production of Shakespeare’s comedic play is directed by Atri Banerjee (The Glass Menagerie, Julius Caesar) and will feature folk-infused original music by Maimuna Memon (The Grapes of Wrath, Portia Coughlan).
Set in the magical, enchanted forest on the outskirts of Athens, A Midsummer Night’s Dream weaves together the doings of three different cohorts over the course of one magic filled night: arguing lovers and friends, a quarrelling fairy king and queen, and a hapless troupe of players just trying to rehearse.

Adrian Lester (The Sandman, Hustle) returns to the stage in Cyrano de Bergerac , a role for which he received high praise during its run at the RSC last year. Playing a strictly limited season, Cyrano de Bergerac reimagines Edmond Rostand’s fiercely funny and intensely romantic play in a bold new version.
Lester stars as the titular character, Cyrano, a poet, soldier and philosopher haunted by his appearance. When the woman he loves falls for a handsome suitor who struggles with his words, Cyrano gives him a voice. But it may very well destroy him. This thrilling tale of love and longing is highly anticipated in the West End and will be a hot ticket this summer.

Major star-led revival The Truth arrives at the Apollo Theatre from 9 June 2026, exploring the explosive cost of telling the truth. The play will star Stephen Mangan (The Split), Ardal O’Hanlon (Father Ted), Sarah Hadland (Miranda, Strictly Come Dancing) and double Olivier Award-winner Janie Dee as two couples caught in a dangerous game of extramarital affairs and weaponised friendship.
Helmed by Olivier Award winning director Lindsay Posner, this sharp comedy returns to the West End for the first time in nearly a decade. The Guardian called it a ‘a devious must-see’ in its original iteration (also directed by Posner), expectations are high for this star powered revival.

David Mamet’s explosive classic Glengarry Glen Ross gets a first-ever all-female cast at the Old Vic, led by Olivier Award winner Indira Varma (Oedipus, The Other Bennet Sister) and Rosa Salazar (High Noon, Alita: Battle Angel).
Considered one of the most influential plays of the 20th century, Glengarry Glen Ross follows four desperate Chicago real estate agents prepared to do whatever it takes, no matter how legal or unethical, to snare prospective buyers.
Directed by Tony Award winner Patrick Marber, this gripping, darkly funny revival remains a powerful exploration of capitalism and moral compromise no less relevant today than it was when it premiered in 1983.

Sandra Oh takes the stage in a razor-sharp reimagining of Molière’s The Misanthrope at the National Theatre. Oh makes her West End debut in this searing new production, adapted for the 21st century by acclaimed playwright Martin Crimp (Cyrano de Bergerac, The Seagull).
Moliere’s social satire becomes a contemporary commentary on integrity, public image and the cost of honesty. Lead character Alceste becomes Alice, a brilliant novelist with a reputation for daring to speak her mind, to the detriment of her colleagues, her personal relationships and ultimately, herself. This highly anticipated revival has a limited run and will be a hot ticket this summer.

Driftwood
Kiln Theatre

Premiering at London’s Kiln Theatre following a brief run at the RSC, Driftwood is the powerful debut play by Trinidadian British actress Martina Laird (Eastenders, King Hedley II). Called a ‘vivid journey to jazzy Trinidad’ by the Times, Driftwood explores loyalty, love, identity and survival in 1950s colonial Trinidad on the cusp of independence.
Driftwood is inspired by Laird’s own exploration of her Trinidadian heritage, bringing to life a richly textured and vibrant world of resilience and hope. The cast boasts a few familiar faces in its cast, including Ellen Thomas (EastEnders, Teachers), Martins Imhangbe (Bridgerton, Death of a Salesman) and Cat White (The Watsons, The Capture).
