The hugely anticipated West End revival of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar has announced full casting for its strictly limited summer season at the London Palladium.
The production, which runs from 20 June to 5 September 2026, previously confirmed that Eurovision star Sam Ryder will make his West End debut in the title role.

More principals announced
Also announced last month, a number of West End heavyweights will be joining Sam Ryder, including Tyrone Huntley (Hello, Dolly!) as Judas Iscariot; Desmonda Cathabel (Hadestown) as Mary Magdalene; and Olivier Award winner David Thaxton (Sunset Boulevard) as Pontius Pilate.
Both Huntley and Thaxton appeared in this production at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, with Tyrone Huntley scoring an Olivier Award nomination.
Announced today, they will be joined by:
- Bob Harms (Pretty Woman) as Caiaphas
- Matty J (Britain’s Got Talent) as Annas
- Billy Nevers (Hamilton) as Simon/Alternate Judas (performing Judas on Wednesdays from 8 July)
- Phil King (Jane Eyre) as Peter
Six stars to share the role of Herod
In a unique casting move, the role of King Herod will be shared by six high-profile stars across the eleven-week run. The rotating line-up includes: Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Modern Family), Olivier and Tony Award-winner Simon Russell Beale (The Choral), Richard Armitage (The Hobbit trilogy), pop icon Boy George (Moulin Rouge!), Olivier Award winner Layton Williams (Titanique), and a return to the role for comedian and actor Julian Clary (Palladium Panto).

The full company of Jesus Christ Superstar at the Palladium features: Koko Alexandra, Jasmine Jules Andrews, Courtney Arango, Amy Barker, Alistair Beattie, Daniel Bowskill, Jahlil M Burke, Martha Burton, Marcelo Cervone, Sarah Freer, Sebastian Goffin, Alexander Kranz, Owen Lloyd, Milo McCarthy, Dan Moore, Cherece Richards, Kyle Richardson, Olivia Saunders, Toyan Thomas-Browne, Charley Warburton, and Lillie-Pearl Wildman.
Award-winning creative team
This revival marks a West End homecoming for the production originally created for Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre. The original creative team is reuniting for the Palladium stage, led by Donmar Warehouse Artistic Director Timothy Sheader.
The production features choreography by Drew McOnie (Cats) and a set and costume design by Tom Scutt (Cabaret).
Jesus Christ Superstar boasts lyrics and music by Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony winners Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

The TV special, filmed at Manchester’s AO Arena, features Ryder’s debut theatrical performance alongside a host of West End stars, providing a world-first glimpse into his interpretation of the role of Jesus.
