I’m Every Woman cancels run at the Peacock Theatre in London
The on-going emergency works at the Peacock Theatre in London have struck another show.
The producers of new West End musical I’m Every Woman – The Chaka Khan Musical starring Alexandra Burke have had to cancel their planned West End run of the show at the Peacock Theatre.
This is the third show affected by essential building works taking place at the West End venue run by Sadler’s Wells Theatre, with February’s TUTU Chicos Mambo moved to Sadler’s Wells East, and The Opera Locos moved to Sadler’s Wells.
The Peacock Theatre run, which was due to play from 5 to 28 March 2025, will be cancelled, and ticket holders will be contacted by their point of purchase for refunds or rebooking.
Instead, I’m Every Woman – The Chaka Khan Musical will now premiere at the Hackney Empire from 20 to 25 March 2026. Tickets will go on general sale from 11am on 5 March.
“We were informed just several days before our sold-out engagement of I’m Every Woman that the Peacock Theatre would not be available for our scheduled opening due to essential building works.” – Producer Adrian Grant
Based on the life story, music and rise to fame of Chaka Khan, I’m Every Woman – The Chaka Khan Musical is backed by Chaka Khan herself, and produced by Adrian Grant (Thriller Live).
Sadler’s Wells put out a statement last month saying that the Peacock Theatre “must close temporarily for unexpected essential building works”, and that “we apologise for the inconvenience caused due to circumstances beyond our control.”
Clearly the temporary works are more serious than they first suspected.
Producer Adrian Grant put out a statement saying that they had been informed about the Peacock Theatre closure, “just several days before our sold-out engagement of I’m Every Woman“.
Grant went on to say that, “while this is clearly very disappointing, it relates solely to the venue and is entirely outside of the production’s control. Our cast, crew and creative team are ready, and after more than three years of development in collaboration with Chaka Khan, we are incredibly proud of the show we have created.”

The show has a book by Nia T. Hill, and is directed by Racky Plews, with choreography by Ebony Clarke.
I’m Every Woman promises to reveal the woman behind the diva and her rise to stardom, from the Black Panther Party to Rufus and solo superstardom. The new musical features Khan’s greatest hits, including I’m Every Woman, I Feel For You, Tell Me Something Good, Ain’t Nobody, Sweet Thing, Higher Love and Through The Fire.
