The first photos are out for the new touring production of W. Somerset Maugham’s The Constant Wife.
Directed by the RSC’s Co-Artistic Director Tamara Harvey, and adapted by Olivier Award winner Laura Wade (Home, I’m Darling; Posh), the production stars actor and Strictly Come Dancing winner Kara Tointon (Mr Selfridge, The Hunger Games).
Originally produced by the RSC, The Constant Wife is now touring the UK, playing at the Oxford Playhouse until 7 February, and then London Richmond, Brighton, Chelmsford, Liverpool, Salford, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Shrewsbury, Leeds, Cheltenham, Poole, Malvern, and Bath.
The play will run at London’s Richmond Theatre from 9 to 14 February 2026.
Following the tour, the show will make its debut at sea on Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 Transatlantic Crossing. This production of The Constant Wife is also primed to come to the West End, although no details have been released about venue or dates.
The drama was a big hit at the RSC last year starring Rose Leslie, and boasts an original score by multi-award-winning jazz artist Jamie Cullum.

The Constant Wife is set in the glamorous world of 1920s high society, and follows Constance Middleton, a woman whose seemingly perfect life is upended when she discovers her husband’s affair. Rather than react with scandal, however, Constance takes control in ways that confound and challenge societal expectations.
