Barbie is coming to London next summer in a large-scale immersive experience inspired by Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie. Secret Cinema are in advanced discussions to bring Barbie in BarbieLand to the UK, according to an initial report by Deadline. The project is being developed in partnership with Mattel and Warner Bros., with plans for an eight-week run if the final agreement is confirmed.
Tickets for Barbie in BarbieLand are expected to go on general sale in December.
Inside the planned BarbieLand Experience
Barbie in BarbieLand is an all-new immersive experience that takes audiences beyond the big screen of Greta Gerwig’s smash-hit movie and directly into the world of Barbie. Following the success of Grease: The Immersive Movie Musical, this new pop-up experience will blend theatrical West End theatre performances, immersive environments and interactive storytelling for a spectacular night out.
Audiences can expect an expansive themed environment featuring live performances, interactive sets evoking locations from BarbieLand, dancefloors, carnival elements, and food and drink tailored to the world of the film.
Producers say a full creative team announcement is on the way, with artists involved who have worked across major West End shows as well as high-profile music projects.
What Happens Next
More details on the creative team, design and event structure are expected shortly. If confirmed, BarbieLand is poised to be one of London’s most in-demand theatrical immersive events of the summer.
