Stage and screen star Nicola Walker (Unforgotten, The Split) is set to star in the world premiere of The Unbelievers at the Royal Court Theatre in London; and British screen star Ambika Mod (One Day, This Is Going to Hurt) is starring in the world premiere of Porn Play at the Royal Court.
The Unbelievers is a new drama is by Nick Payne (Constellations, We Live in Time), and directed by multi-award-winner Marianne Elliott (War Horse, Company, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time). The drama is a startling portrait of motherhood, faith, family – and the lengths we go to for those we refuse to forget, centred on a teenager who disappears, and a mother who will never give up hope.
Porn Play is written by Sophia Chetin-Leuner (This Might Not Be It) and directed by Josie Rourke, former artistic director of the Donmar Warehouse and Bush Theatre. In the play, Ambika Mod stars as Ani, a dazzling young academic with a secret addiction to violent pornography. As her career and relationships unravel in between lectures on Paradise Lost, can she confront her uncontrollable desires?
The Unbelievers is running at the Royal Court from 10 October to 29 November 2025; and Porn Play is playing at the Royal Court Theatre from 6 November to 13 December 2025.
The Unbelievers and Porn Play are part of the Royal Court’s new season of plays for 2025, including world premieres of Deaf Republic, Cow | Deer, and two touring productions After the Act, and ECHO.
