Spectacular production photos are in for Free Your Mind – the epic new show by Danny Boyle that has opened Factory International’s Aviva Studios in Manchester.
A huge new dance, music and visual effects immersive experience inspired by The Matrix movies, Free your Mind is directed by award-winning film and stage director Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, Frankenstein), with Boyle’s vision to bring together spectacular visual effects, professional dancers and actors, plus local participants to recreate scenes from the Matrix movies.
Choreography is by Kenrick “H20” Sandy, with music by Michael “Mikey J” Asante, stage sculptures by the designer Es Devlin, and spoken words by playwright and poet Sabrina Mahfouz.
The show officially opened last night, 18 October 2023, the first production in the brand new £186m cultural venue Aviva Studios in Manchester run by Factory International.

Factory International is the organisation that runs and programmes Manchester International Festival and the new Aviva Studios venue in Manchester. Factory International plans to commission and present a year-round programme of original creative work, music and special events at its new venue, online, and internationally through its network of co-commissioners and partners.
Free Your Mind is playing until 5 November 2023. There’s no news on whether Free Your Mind will come to London – but it seems a sure bet, right?
