Musical theatre fan convention Musical Con has revealed more stars and special guests attending the event next month.

Now in its second year, Musical Con will run at ExCel London on the weekend of the 21 and 22 October 2023.

Special guests attending include Claude-Michel Schönberg, composer of Les Miserables and Miss Saigon; choreographer and winner of this year’s Special Recognition Olivier Award, Arlene Phillips (Starlight Express, Grease, Guys & Dolls); Laurence O’Keefe – the lyricist and composer of Heathers, Legally Blonde and Bat Boy The Musical; and Sheffield Theatres Artistic Director Rob Hastie (Operation Mincemeat, Standing At The Sky’s Edge).

Other stars announced include Matt Henry (Kinky Boots, The Drifters Girl), John McCrea (Cabaret, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie), Joanna Ampil (Miss Saigon, Cats, Waitress), Divina De Campo (The SpongeBob Musical), and Rob Madge (My Son’s A Queer, But What Can You Do?).

Newly announced creatives attending the event also include casting director Stuart Burt (Cabaret, Miss Saigon, Standing At the Sky’s Edge), designer Ben Stones (Operation Mincemeat, Miss Saigon, Standing At The Sky’s Edge), director Anthony Lau (Miss Saigon), writers Jake Brunger & Pippa Cleary (The Great British Bake Off Musical), and choreographer Mark Smith (The Little Big Things).

Claude-Michel Schönberg said in a statement: “Musical Con is helping musical theatre to be understood, appreciated and celebrated by audiences as never before. I am delighted to be part of it and my hope is we will inspire the next generation of young people to work with us in the most wonderful industry in the world.”

Guests and stars already announced feature a number of West End performers including: Strictly Come Dancing’s Layton Williams (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie), Tom Francis (Sunset Boulevard), Aimee Atkinson (Pretty Woman The Musical), Trevor Dion Nicholas (Next to Normal), Sophie Evans (Wicked), Alice Fearn (Diana The Musical), Ben Forster, Shanay Holmes (The Bodyguard), Lucie Jones (Les Miserables), Jon Robyns (The Phantom of the Opera), Jodie Steele (Bonnie and Clyde), Miriam Teak Lee (& Juliet), Michael Ahomka-Lindsay (Disney’s Newsies), Bronte Barbe (Disney’s Newsies), Courtney Bowman (Pretty Woman), Victoria Hamilton-Barritt (Cinderella, Bat Boy), Dom Hartley Harris (Bonnie and Clyde), Holly Anne Hull (The Phantom of the Opera), Cassidy Janson (& Juliet), Aisha Jawando (Hamilton, Tina – The Tina Turner Musical), Hannah Lowther (The SpongeBob Musical), Grace Mout (Six The Musical), Natalie May Paris (Six The Musical), Josh Piterman (Les Miserables), Tosh Wanogho-Maud (Ain’t Too Proud), Michael Xavier (Roman Holiday), with more stars to be announced.
