Musical Con 2023 reveals star line-up

Musical Con, the West End musical theatre fan convention, is back for 2023 with over 70 West End stars appearing at the ExCeL London.

Running on the weekend of Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 October 2023, event organisers are expecting over 10,000 musical theatre fans to attend based on last year’s sold-out event.

Special guests announced include superstar ambassadors Aimee Atkinson (Pretty Woman The Musical), Trevor Dion Nicholas (Next to Normal), Sophie Evans, Alice Fearn (Then, Now, Next), Ben Forster, Shanay Holmes , Lucie Jones (Les Miserables), Jon Robyns (The Phantom of the Opera), Jodie Steele (Bonnie and Clyde The Musical), Miriam Teak Lee and Layton Williams.

This year, the convention will also feature stars of the big screen, with special appearances from blockbuster movie Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical’s Alisha Weir (Matilda) and Meesha Garbett (Red Beret Girl).

The line up will also include Michael Ahomka-Lindsay(Disney’s Newsies), Bronte Barbe (Disney’s Newsies), Courtney Bowman (Pretty Woman), Tom Francis, Victoria Hamilton-Barritt, Dom Hartley Harris (Bonnie and Clyde), Holly Anne Hull (The Phantom of the Opera), Cassidy Janson, Aisha Jawando, Hannah Lowther (The SpongeBob Musical), Grace Mout, Natalie May Paris, Josh Piterman (Les Miserables), SVN, Tosh Wanogho-Maud (Ain’t Too Proud – The Life And Times Of The Temptations), Michael Xavier (Roman Holiday), with more stars to be announced.

This year fans will once again be able to watch special performances, interviews, talks and panels on the Main Stage and Backstage Theatre, plus the Stage Door area for meet and greets with photo and signing opportunities, and a range of workshops and masterclasses with theatre pros.

Also back this year will be cosplay, competitions, singalongs and fan meets, plus the Theatreland area for exhibits and photo opportunities, and the Marketplace for fan merch.

A new feature for 2023 is a pop-up cinema, showing non-stop musical films, from current films to classics.

Les Miserables star Lucie Jones said in a statement: “Musical Con is a place where all of the fans, of all different musicals, can come together under one roof and celebrate something that we all love. I’m so excited to see people in their favourite cosplay, taking part in a workshop, or just meeting someone they love!”

Matilda The Musical star Alisha Weir said: “Musical Con is so important because it inspires other kids and gives them the hope and determination to be who they want to be and do what they love.”

Creative Producer Shanay Holmes said: “Musical Con is back and this year is going to be even bigger and better. This is the place where we belong. This is for the fans.”
