Beloved by families worldwide, The Smeds and The Smoos is set to return to London’s West End for an exciting summer season at the Lyric Theatre in 2025. Following its smash-hit run in 2023, this delightful stage adaptation of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s award-winning picture book will run from 18 July to 7 September 2025, perfectly timed for the summer holidays.

Presented by Tall Stories, the creative team behind acclaimed productions like The Gruffalo, The Snail and the Whale and Room on the Broom, The Smeds and the Smoos promises an unforgettable intergalactic adventure for audiences aged 3 and up. Directed by Tall Stories’ co-founder Toby Mitchell, the show combines music, puppetry, and laughter with an imaginative tale that captivates young and old alike.
A timeless story of love and unity
The Smeds and The Smoos tells the heartwarming story of two rival alien groups living on a distant planet—the red Smeds and the blue Smoos. Despite their families’ warnings to stay apart, a young Smed and Smoo fall in love and zoom off into space together. Can their families unite to bring them back?
The production debuted at the Rose Theatre Kingston in 2021 and was developed at Tall Stories’ studio space in Islington.
