The Smeds and The Smoos are coming to London’s West End for Summer 2023.
Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s award-winning picture book is brought to life on stage by Tall Stories, the team behind much-loved adaptations of The Gruffalo and The Snail and the Whale live on stage.
Winner of the prestigious British Book Award 2020 – Children’s Book of the Year (Illustrated and Non-fiction), The Smeds and The Smoos was the number one best selling picture book in 2019 and 2020.
The show has music, laughs, puppetry and interplanetary adventures for everyone aged 3 and up!

The Smeds and The Smoos runs at the Lyric Theatre, from 20 July to 3 September 2023, just in time for the summer holidays.
What's the story of The Smeds and The Smoos?
The Smeds and The Smoos tells the story of two rival groups of aliens living on a far-off planet: the Smeds (who are red) and the Smoos (who are blue). The two groups mistrust each other, and the children are told to never play with one another. So, when a young Smed and Smoo fall in love and zoom off into space together, how will their families get them back?

This production is recommended for ages 3+. Children under 18 months will be allocated entry to the show, on the understanding that they will not be given a seat and will be classed as ‘babes in arms’
Access performances:
Thursday 10 August, 2pm will be a relaxed performance
Sunday 20 August, 2pm will be a relaxed performance
Thursday 24 August, 11am will be a BSL and relaxed performance and 2pm will be a BSL performance
