Attention all bohemians, aristocrats and musical theatre lovers. Moulin Rouge! The Musical will open in London’s West End this November.
The highly anticipated Broadway smash-hit musical will begin performances at the Piccadilly Theatre in London on Friday 12 November 2021, with an offical press night on Wednesday 8 December 2021.
Based on Baz Luhrman’s much-loved film, Moulin Rouge! The Musical is brought to life on stage by director Alex Timbers, book writer John Logan and choregrapher Sonya Tayeh.
The creative team includes Derek McLane (sets), Catherine Zuber (costumes), Justin Townsend (lighting), Peter Hylenski (sound), David Brian Brown (hair and wig) and Sarah Cimino (make-up design). Casting will be by Pippa Ailion CDG and Natalie Gallacher CDG.
The iconic soundtrack of the film has been remixed for the stage show encompassing a new musical mash-up extravagaza, including recent hits released since the movie premiered 20 years ago. A rights nightmare, the mammoth task of clearing the songs for the show was a decade-long journey, spanning 3 continents, encompassing 75 songs credited to 165 songwriters and administered by 31 publishers
Moulin Rouge! The Musical invites you to enter a world of passionate romance and eye-popping splendour… a place where Bohemians and aristocrats revel together in electrifying enchantment… a place where all your wildest dreams come true! It’s time to revist, the story of Satine, Christian and the entertainers at the Moulin Rouge.
Casting for the show is currently underway and will be revealed in due course.
