‘Sister Act’ starring Whoopi Goldberg rescheduled to 2021

Sister Act The Musical starring Whoopi Goldberg and Jennifer Saunders has been rescheduled to Summer 2021.

The highly anticipated new staging of Sister Act The Musical in which Goldberg reprises the role of ‘Deloris Van Cartier’ was due to begin performances at Curve Leicester this month followed by London dates at the Eventim Apolllo in July.

The London run at the Eventim Apollo is now rescheduled to open 20 July 2021 where it will play until 29 August 2021, with a press night on 27 July 2021.

Current ticket holders for the London run have been moved into the same seats for equivalent performances by day of week for the 2021 run. Patrons will be able to use their current ticket for performances next year. Performance times remain unchanged.

The show marks the first time Goldberg has reprised the iconic role since starring in the international hit films in the early 90s.

Jennifer Saunders will play the role of ‘Mother Superior’, played by Maggie Smith in the films, with Clive Rowe cast in the role of  police detective ‘Eddie Souther’.

The musical features original music by Tony® and 8-time Oscar® winner Alan Menken(Disney’s Aladdin, Enchanted), lyrics by Glenn Slater, book by Bill and Cheri Steinkellner with additional book material by Douglas Carter Beane.

Sister Act The Musical will run from 20 July 2021 until 29 August 2021 at the Eventim Apollo, London.
