Joe Orton’s classic comedy What The Butler Saw is now available to stream for free online.
Comedian and actor Rufus Hound stars as Dr. Prentice alongside Dakota Blue Richards, Catherine Russell, Jack Holden, Jasper Britton and Ravi Aujla.
Orton’s comedy revolves around Dr. Prentice, a psychiatrist attempting to seduce his attractive prospective secretary. The play involves multiple affairs, chaos, cross-dressing and mistaken identity. What The Butler Saw was Orton’s final play and was completed one month before his death in 1967.
Directed by Nikolai Foster in 2017 the farce was a co-production between Curve Leicester and Theatre Royal Bath to mark the 50th anniversary of the playwright’s death.
The production features design by Michael Taylor, lighting by Ben Cracknell, sound and composition by Adam McCready and casting by Ginny Schiller.
