New cast announced for ‘Matilda the Musical’ in London

A new cast has been announced for ‘Matilda The Musical‘ at the Cambridge Theatre in London’s West End.

Elliot Harper (Les Miserables, The Phantom of the Opera) returns to the West End production of Matilda as Miss Trunchbull, having successfully played the role in the recent UK & Ireland tour.

Sebastian Torkia also joins the cast of Matilda after the national tour, reprising the role of Mr Wormwood. Marianne Benedict will continue in the role of Mrs Wormwood.

Carly Thoms (Matilda UK & Ireland tour, Thoroughly Modern Millie)  will join the West End cast from March 2020, taking over the role of Miss Honey from Gina Beck.

The title role will be shared by Tilly-Raye Bayer, Olivia Juno Cleverley, Alex Munden and Zoe Simon, with the cast change celebrating the 100th young actress cast to play the role of Matilda.

The adult cast of Matilda will star Alex Louize Bird, Liberty Buckland, Georgia Carling, Roger Dipper, Kelly Ewins-Prouse, Ben Kerr, Matt Krzan, Connor Lewis, Tom Mather, Kane Oliver Parry, Landi Oshinowo, Ryan Pidgen, James Revell, Gemma Scholes, Christopher Tendai and Dawn Williams.

Inspired by the Roald Dahl’s beloved book and produced by The Royal Shakespeare Company, Matilda tells the story of a schoolgirl who uses her psychokinetic powers to takes control of her own destiny. The musical features an original soundtrack by Tim Minchin, with songs including ‘Revolting Children’ and ‘When I Grow Up’.

Directed by Matthew Warchus, Matilda won a record breaking 7 Olivier Awards when it premiered in London and 4 Tony Awards on Broadway.

Matilda The Musical is now booking until 20 December 2020 at the Cambridge Theatre, London.
